ABOUT CELEBRATING PRINT COMPETITION

Celebrating Print Competition (“CPC”) is an international competition for fine art prints created by artists of Central and Eastern European backgrounds. CPC is organized by KADS New York with the goal to showcase in New York City contemporary prints from the region. The mission for CPC is to raise awareness of the tradition of Central and Eastern European printmaking, and encourage explorations in original contemporary prints.

CPC is juried by an invited juror or jurors - established printmakers, printmaking educators, or print curators. The exhibition is on view in New York City for one month.

A Celebrating Print Challenge offers invited New York-based artists an opportunity to explore oeuvre of a selected artist from the CEE region, and reflect on his or her legacy. They are asked to create a paper object incorporating printmaking. The paper objects are exhibited at the Celebrating Print Exhibition.

The first Celebrating Print Exhibition entitled Masters of Czech and Slovak Printmaking took place in 2013, presenting over 60 fine art prints - etchings, lithographs, woodcuts and mixed media prints from 27 renowned Czech and Slovak artists. The inaugural CPC was organized in 2014 and presented works of 27 artists of Czech and Slovak backgrounds from the Czech Republic, Germany, Slovakia and the USA. In conjuction with the new Celebrating Print magazine, which is focused on art print and printmaking in Central and Eastern Europe, the organizer has decided to expand the CPC and present prints from the CEE region.
